Egyptians pay
tribute to Marwa in a massive funeral procession
Outrage against
Germany
and “Foreign Affairs”
Thousands of angry Egyptians attended the funeral of Marwa
Sherbini in Alexandria
on Monday July 6th, 2009. Marwa was murdered in a German courtroom
on Wednesday July 1st 2009, for wearing the Hijab. The martyr’s body
was welcomed by the sign “for what sin was she killed?” as the plane landed in Cairo’s airport.
Marwa’s funeral rapidly turned into an angry manifestation
against Germany
and the weak response of the Egyptian ministry of foreign affairs as the mass proceeded
from the mosque where the funeral took place.
Several government representatives took part in the funeral
procession, including the Governor of Alexandria, the Egyptian Manpower Minister Aisha Abdel Hadi and
Telecommunications Minister Tariq Kamel, as well as members of the parliament
and legislative officials who all confirmed that Marwa is indeed considered a
Martyr in Islam.
On the other hand, Marwa’s brother Engineer
Tarek Sherbini pointed out the diplomatic incompetence of the Egyptian embassy
in Germany.
Tarek Sherbini affirmed that the reactions of politicians and media have been
incomprehensibly meager and will open doors for other Muslims to be aggressed.
He also added that we must seize this opportunity to prove to the West that “they”
are the terrorists, not Muslims.
German embassy in Cairo
has been barricaded against possible manifestations organized by political
activists. The Egyptian pharmacists association has called for a boycott of
German drugs and for severe punishment of the murderer of their fellow
pharmacist.
